The Attributes Inspector is a floating panel that allows you to
view and set the attributes associated with:
- the page as a whole
- the current text selection
- or the currently selected object
You can toggle between the three modes by using the button bar at the top
left corner of the
Inspector window.
Page Attributes. When the Page Attributes button is pressed, you
can use the Attributes Inspector to specify the location of a cgi script.
You can also take advantage of Netscape extensions by setting the foreground
and background color of the page, as well as the color of the links themselves.
Finally, you can drag an image to the image well in order to set the background
image for the page.
Style Attributes. When the Style Attributes button is pressed,
you can use the Attributes Inspector to specify the format and style of
the currently selected range of text, just as you would from using either
the Style or Format menus. You can also make the selected text a link by
entering a link destination into the URL field.
Object Attributes. When the Object Attributes button is pressed,
you can use the Attributes Inspector to set the various attributes associated
with the currently selected object. Just which attributes are displayed
depend on the kind of object you have selected. If the current selection
does not encompass a single object, the Object Attributes button will be
disabled.
Points to remember:
- Changes to any editable text field in the Attributes Inspector are not
commited until and unless you hit the return (or enter) key. Clicking out
of the field will simply reset it to its previous value.
- The Attributes Inspector is only enabled if the active window contains
an editable page.
